Many of you will already know about the decision to close the Drakes branch in Sittingbourne at the end of November.
The decision was not taken lightly and one that we did with regret as the Sittingbourne branch was the second one that Drakes opened nearly 30 years ago. It has been very important in the ongoing development of the Company.
We moved to the current site after the original unit we occupied was redeveloped by Tesco. When we moved here the Council said that the ring road would be opened in a matter of months and in no later than a couple of years. This, as you will be aware, has never happened and has meant that the site is far from convenient for many of our loyal customers and as a result is uneconomical for us to continue operating from here.
Following recent contact by the staff at Sittingbourne many of you will be already aware that we will be servicing your requirements from one of our other local branches. Gillingham in the main but some of you may find the Ashford branch making deliveries to you.
We would like to thank all our customers for their business over the many years and sincerely hope that we can continue to look after you with the same level of personal contact and attention to service and prices that you expect of us.
We may well find a new unit in Sittingbourne in the future and if we do you will be the first to know. We will be holding a clearance sale with some very special offers in December and will let you have the details shortly.
