Branch Manager (Uckfield)

We are currently recruiting for a target-driven Branch Manager with significant industry experience to lead the team at Uckfield, one of our busiest and most successful branches.


Leafing a team of five, key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Implementing a sales growth plan to consistently meet and exceed sales and profit targets.
  • Appraising the local market, identifying new business opportunities and actively targeting new customers.
  • Building close relationships with key existing accounts and increasing customer spend accordingly.
  • Overseeing the smooth day to day running of the branch with particular emphasis on sales, stock control and cost control
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment


This is an exciting opportunity for an established leader to take over one of our most successful branches which has recently undergone significant showroom investment. The successful candidate will:

  • Already have an understanding of the day-to-day running of a plumbers’ merchant.
  • Have worked in the plumbing industry either as a supplier or with a plumbing / builders merchant, for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Be a natural leader who inspires those they oversee

Area Sales Manager (West Kent & Sussex)

Ultimately responsible for profitable sales growth across our Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Uckfield and East Grinstead branches, we are now looking for an experienced Area Sales Manager to join the Drakes team.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Growing the number of Drakes key account customers;
  • Building relationships with customers to increase sales or initiate new business;
  • Managing key accounts as agreed with Branch Managers;
  • Actively promoting key products, achieving incremental sales increases accordingly ;
  • Supervising the quotation process and ensuring customer expectations are met;
  • Contributing new ideas and ways of expanding our current sales portfolio.

This is an exciting and potentially lucrative role for an existing Area Sales or Business Development Manager who is well organised and target-driven. The successful candidate will:

  • Have a proven field sales track record within the plumbing & heating market;
  • Have previously sold to both commercial and domestic customers and have a strong network of contacts accordingly;
  • Be professional and have strong interpersonal skills;
  • Be well organised with a proven time-management skills.

Following the recent launch of our e-commerce website and customer loyalty scheme, this is an incredibly exciting time to join the company. The successful candidate will have all the tools and support to achieve significant incremental sales increases and flourish in the Area Sales Manager role.

Assistant Branch Manager (Uckfield)

We are currently recruiting for a hard-working and target driven Assistant Branch Manager to help lead the team and further expand our already busy Uckfield branch.


Working as part of a five-person team, key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Supporting the Branch Manager with branch growth and leading the team in their absence
  • Providing a high level of customer service and maximising all available sales opportunities
  • Proactively targeting new customers
  • Assisting in the training and development of the team
  • Providing regular administrative support to the Branch Manager


Previous experience in a similar leadership position would be preferable but is not necessarily essential. The successful candidate will however possess excellent organisation and time management skills, and have significant experience within the industry. Local knowledge of the area is also desirable.
